Roy Hargrove - A Moment in Time
Texas native Roy Hargrove was a composer, trumpet and flugelhorn player whose playing and compositions spanned a multitude of musical styles—from jazz standards at jam sessions to classic bebop, Big Band Jazz Ensembles, and Latin Jazz.
The 2025–26 Austin Jazz Workshop season will introduce students to three jazz terms—improvisation, jam session, and Latin jazz—through demonstrations of the Latin rhythms and playing style for which Roy Hargrove was known.
